The Importance of Hiring A Professional Electrician

When I bought my first house, I figured that I could do most of the repairs. After successfully installing a backsplash and replacing some of the carpet, I started focusing on things like electrical work. Unfortunately, the reference guide I was using was outdated, and I was shocked by a new type of cable. That day, I decided that some tasks simply aren't cut out for novice homeowners. I shifted my focus to hiring professional subcontractors, and it made a world of difference. This blog talks about the dangers of doing your own electrical work, and why you should always use a professional.

3 Reasons To Consider A Central Air System

One of the best cooling options for your home is a central air system, mostly because this system provides a host of benefits that window-mounted units cannot. You should consider central air due to the fact that it will increase your home's value, can be energy efficient, and make your home more comfortable.

Increase Your Home's Value

One of the biggest reasons to look at central air cooling systems is because they are one of the few types of cooling systems that will actually boost your home's value. In many cases, it can also make your home a bit easier to sell as well because many people looking for a home would often prefer to buy one that already has air conditioning in place.

This is usually because they will not really want to spend several thousand dollars to purchase and install a central air unit after having already spent a lot of money buying the home. On the other hand, a window-mounted air conditioner is not really going to affect your home's value at all.

Energy Efficient

Another reason to look into a central air system over a window-mounted air conditioner is because the central air system is usually more energy efficient. One reason for this is that a central air system is going to be connected to your thermostat and will be turned off once the desired temperature has been reached. However, a window-mounted unit will usually not have a thermostat option that will shut it off.

While a window-mounted unit will use less electricity than a central air unit, this is only the case if you are comparing one or two window-mounted units to a single central air system. However, to cool your entire house down you will need more than just one or two window-mounted units, you will need one for every room that needs to be cooled. Once you start having multiple window-mounted units going at the same time, they will end up using far more energy than a single central air unit that can cool your entire house at once.

Make Your Home More Comfortable

Finally, a central air unit is capable of making your home into a more relaxing and comfortable place to be. One of the biggest reasons for this is that you will never really hear your central air unit working beyond the quiet sound of air blowing out of your vents. However, a window-mounted unit is going to be much louder than this because it will be installed in the room with you, which can be quite annoying when the compressor turns on and you have to turn the volume on everything up in order to compensate.

Speak to a local HVAC contractor, such as DCS Inc., in order to discuss which cooling options he or she believes would be most beneficial for your home. A central air unit is ideal because it can make your home more comfortable, is energy efficient, and can help increase your home's value should you ever decide to sell the house.
